many women think that removal of the uterus causes - Menopause !
this is entirely UNTRUE !
the only change it brings is cessation of cyclical menstruation !

massive uterus hysterectomy

yesterday , a patient presented to my clinic with a huge uterus - 6--7 months pregnancy size uterus (24-26 weeks)
she had a caesarean delivery in d past
there were huge fibroids -6-7 ranging from size 5-6 cm to the largest ones measuring 8-9 cm-diameter.


performed a total laparoscopic hysterectomy with morcellation - stunned everybody !


- hysterectomy can b performed by laparoscopic route safely and efficiently ,even if there are high risk factors like- huge, multiple fibroids, adhesion of the urinary bladder due to previous caesarean section.


however- expertise, skill and experience of d surgeon is a must !

felt satisfied , but tired after the clean surgery !

fibroids and very large fibroids - oomph !

just saw 4 patients with very large fibroids in d last fortnight- range 15-25 cm large !!


they wished for HIFU
advised them go ahead and try for themselves :|


sometimes feel that in today's medical field ,its not giving genuine advice what matters -
what matters probably is -how to sell yourself-


damn the Yankees who've commercialized even -HEALTH

fibroids and myths !

just received a mailer from "x" - claiming reduction in size of the large fibroid by HIFU !


surprisingly - the MRI Pic after the procedure shows hardly any change ! Still d advertiser has d audacity to mail such a gimmick - sad for medical field :p


seems ridiculous to me- such an expensive modality creating myths about fibroids and their modes of treatment !


above all- giving an impression of evidence based medicine :)
the place of HIFU is to be judged from case to case 
i hope women judge for themselves and seek help of a genuine specialist for the same
